How do you suggest marketing a newly formed non-profit? My eight year old has a 501(c)(3) and we need to get ourselves out there for donations but I'm not sure how to do this. Thanks!

What a great question!!! Does your new non-profit have a website and name so we can include it in the video posting should Ruth select your excellent question?

Yes, what a great question! Please post more information about your non-profit; this will definitely help us to give you some specific activities to raise funds and awareness for your cause!

How can I make the most of out getting my product into the social media market? What are the best social media sites (other than the obvious twitter, facebook)to work with? I already use facebook and twitter but I'm finding I'm a) running out of ideas and 2) still not capturing a lot of the market. Thank you.

How do I market my book with a grand total remaining budget of 0? I spent all my money and then some more on just getting my book and program developed. Now I am at a place where I am happy with how the book is but letting people know about it is a whole other (and bigger) problem. I am on fb, twitter, linkedin, and I have a blog. I just feel like I am running out of ideas. My book's name is Find Me Book. It is like a Where's WAldo or I SPY but you are searching for your family's faces. Thanks!! My website is http://findmebook.com/

Hi Kinzie-
I know you've gifted with us, but you MUST get up on Womentorz. It's totally free to get your awesome page up in the Shop section, which is an invaluable marketing tool. I would LOVE to have you as part of the group. It only takes 10 or so minutes to get your page up. Go under the Inventor tab. This will help solve a lot of your question. :)

Hello Martha- I'm sure Ruth will have some great advice. You must get on Womentorz! It's entirely free and you can get a page up in the store to help promote your product. Many people who follow Womentorz don't realize that all of the pages you see in the store are completely free. Simply register and add your product, which links to your website. You have nothing to lose and should get up there as soon as possible. :)

Hey there,

I,too, have a web site and make use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Womentorz). I've advertized in magazines. I have done product reviews/giveaways; contributed time, product and/or money to charitable events; I've partnered with many different organizations; and run different 'contests'. I've written articles and have commented on others' blogs.

Everyone I've ever talked to and explained what Embrace Activism's goals are all have the same reaction: "That's such a great idea!"

Please help with strategies/methods on converting connections to transactions...first choice financial transactions, but also transactions that would help me move through a corporate maze to get to the person that actually has the authority to make decisions.

To Karen, Chief Activist at Embrace Activism:

I visited your Home and About pages to see if I could find any clues to why you’re doing so many things right and still not getting the results that you want. I was interested, but was left with more questions than answers. I didn’t have a clear call to action or a clear idea of what your business model is.

Recommendation: Increase conversions through clarity.

Use clear, simple, singular messaging. Give your audience just one message to think about at a time. Reinforce this singular message when you answer each of these questions on your Home and About pages:

- What is the problem your business addresses what is your solution?
- Who is it for? Define your audience clearly (Consumers? Practioners? Something for each?)
- How is it done? Tell simply how your product or service solves the problem. What’s in it for them? (This wording should compel your audience to move to the transaction phase.)
- Give your audience a clear call to action. What are you asking them to do or buy? Make sure that you reinforce the benefit to them, clearly and simply, in your transactional content.

Finally, review the user experience. Are instructions clear? Are links present and working? (I ran into a little trouble here). Simple glitches could be keeping your conversions down!

This may be enough information for you to review your content with fresh eyes and make some changes. If not, email me so that we can work on it together. You might make an investment of just 1 – 2 hours that could turn things around for you. We can work step by step to get you where you need to be.

Once you’ve adjusted your messaging, keep your marketing consistent so that you can see if your conversions are increasing. Gather and analyze all the information that you can from your marketing and then make additional adjustments – or let’s talk again –once you have a fresh batch of market feedback.

Give me your feedback! Post your comments here; feel free to email me (ruth at msmarketintel.com) if you’d like to set up a call.

Cheers from Womentorz and Mulberry Street, Karen!

Thank you Ruth for clear and pointed recommendations...I think you read the situation correctly and sense my ambivalence. I really should be focusing on yoga enthusiasts with the donation to charity being an added bonus. I'm committed to making a difference, but I won't be able to do that unless I reach my target market more effectively. Thanks again & I'll keep you posted.
